How to test your blood glucose !

1. Please wash your hands with soap and then dry your hands before testing.
2. Insert a disposable lancet into your lancing device and set the depth of penetration desired. Take one test strip out from the vial and re-cap the vial immediately. Insert the test strip into the blood glucose meter port.
3. Massage the fingertip. Use an alcohol swab to disinfect the blood collection site (the sides of the finger pulp). Wait for the alcohol to dry.
4. Hold the lancing device against the blood collection site and then press the release button until you hear a ‘click’. Gently squeeze your finger. When the blood drop icon appears on the meter screen, apply a sufficient amount of blood sample to the test strip. You will hear a ‘beep’ from the meter.
5. Wait for 5 seconds and your blood glucose value will appear on the meter display.
6. Remove the test strip from the meter and the used lancet from the lancing device. Discard the used test strip and lancet in a hard container and bring it to the hospital for disposal in the trash can for infected items.
